Compassion Katy – Compassion in Action

As our volunteer team is growing, more and more needs are able to be met.

Last Wednesday, October 15th, we received a phone call from the Western area Director for the Red Cross.  There was single mom with a 14 year old daughter and 10 year old son that had been burned out of their apartment and needed some assistance.  Their clothes were lost, but some of her furniture could be saved.  The apartment complex gave her through the 16th (Thursday) to remove anything from the apartment that she wanted.  Her children helped her, but they were unable to move the furniture.  To add to the heartache, the day of the fire was also the 14 year old daughter’s birthday.

Average, ordinary, everyday superheroes to the rescue.  A team from Compassion Katy sprung into action.  One person baked a birthday cake, one teen donated a purse, another volunteer donated a gift card and a few men helped move furniture.  The 14 year old girl was so surprised that strangers would have brought her a cake, or a gift and her mom was very grateful for the help with the furniture.

Compassion Katy is all about helping connect volunteers into the community so that we can touch lives in Jesus name.  Thank you to all our willing volunteers that helped this family.
