We have just finished wrapping up our very successful Katy ServeFest event.
Impact was made as the community pulled together to meet needs in our area. One site of work was the YMCA Camp Cinco. Grounds were refurbished, painting was done along with carpentry and other building projects. This partnership allows the Katy YMCA to use their property to serve other groups within the area.
A new non profit to the area is Hip Hop Hope in Brookshire TX. This ministry serves at risk youth in the Brookshire area through Hip Hop music, encouragement and character development. Our Katy ServeFest team worked on flooring along with painting and cleaning the exterior of a home used by this ministry. Food was donated to help their new food pantry and new friendships were made. Every Thursday Hip Hop Hope ministers to local youth and provides a free meal to all who attend. Katy ServeFest with partnering churches fed over 100 youth Chick Fila, chips, and homemade cookies. From this one night, local churches are working to help provide a meal on the third Thursday of each month. If you or your church are interested please email diane@compassionkaty.org
With the help of 15 of our church partners, and 5 area groups we had 2,500 volunteer hours representing a $54,500 value of service to our community.
What an amazing time as we worked together to meet needs that we could not do alone. For more info keep an eye on our website, like us on Facebook or sign up for our next event and we’ll make sure you get on our email list so you can be sure you get the very latest infomation.
