Save the Date! Fall Katy ServeFest!
Please take a moment to mark your calendars for our upcoming Fall ServeFest on September 29, 2012. We are still finalizing locations at this point, but we anticipate being out in the community serving the elderly, widows and single moms by blessing them with some exterior maintenance work and landscaping. You won’t want to miss out on this incredible day to Serve and Share with us!
Summer Volunteering
As summer beings, many of our Compassion Katy Superheroes are looking for a way to give back to the community. Several of our non-profit partners have volunteer opportunities for all ages. Katy Christian Ministries has jobs for volunteers 13 and up, Lunches of Love (located in the Richmond/Rosenberg area) has openings for all ages, and Home Delivered Meals of Katy, who delivers food to homebound seniors in the Katy area, also has openings for drivers (children/youth are welcome to ride along and assist), contact Sibyl Westenhaver via email at sibyl@consolidated.net to find out more about volunteering with Home Delivered Meals.
You may also find other volunteer opportunities by checking out the websites of our non-profit partners here: Compassion Katy Partners
Compassion Katy Updates
We are excited about the growth that has taken place at Compassion Katy in the past 6 years and can’t wait to see where God is leading us in the future. To help us better help the churches, non-profits and volunteers, we are investing in a new Volunteer Management Program. We are currently looking at several options and hope to move forward by this fall. We are seeking donations to help us achieve this goal. Currently, The Fellowship at Cinco Ranch graciously allows us the free use of their database software (which you may have noticed when you have registered online for past events) and we are extremely grateful for the use of this software, however it really doesn’t fit the needs of Compassion Katy, so in order to grow, we must change. We anticipate the cost to be under $5000 (for purchase of the program and annual usage fees) and our goal is to raise that much money so we don’t have to use funds that might otherwise be going back to blessing the community through events like ServeFest, Leap Into Service and more. We are truly grateful for God’s provisions for Compassion Katy through donations from the churches and our volunteers. Thank you for helping us “Simply Serve” and “Simply Share” with our community.
