Empty Bowls Benefiting Katy Christian Ministries

February 25, 2010
Katy High School Commons

Half a million individuals need assistance with food each year in Houston and throughout southeast Texas.  Nearly 900,00 people live in poverty in our 18-county area (15% of the population).  One in four children in Harris County lives at or below poverty level.  On any given day, an estimated 35,000 people are hungry in Houston.  55% of the people we serve had a high school degree or higher.  Texas and New Mexico have the highest rates of child food insecurity in the nation.

Many came together to support KCM at the Katy High School Commons for a delicious soup dinner and a hand made bowl.  All proceeds went to Katy Christian Ministries Food Pantry for the Hungry.
