We are getting down to the wire and really need volunteers to assist us with one of our annual events, Preparedness on the Square.

Monday, March 9, 2009 – stuffing bags at GHAC – Request FULFILLED
Tuesday, March 10, 2009 – distributing fliers downtown –
4 volunteers needed from 6:30am-9:30am and
4 volunteers needed from 10:30am-1:30pm
Wednesday, March 11, 2009 – distributing fliers downtown –
4 volunteers needed from 6:30am-9:30am and
4 volunteers needed from 10:30am-1:30pm
Thursday, March 12, 2009 – distributing fliers downtown –
4 volunteers needed from 6:30am-9:30am
-assisting at the event downtown –

What is Preparedness on the Square? Glad you asked!
Preparedness on the Square is a downtown lunch time event held during March which is “Red Cross Month”. Located at the Reflecting Pool behind City Hall, it’s the perfect venue for attracting downtown workers with a mix of fun and life-saving information. Last year, more than 2000 people spent their lunch hour learning to Be Red Cross Ready, listening to music and playing games.
Red Cross Disaster Services staff and volunteers taught people how to create a Disaster Supplies Kit and an Emergency Plan. Health and Safety Services staff and volunteers demonstrated First Aid and CPR. Our Transportation Services department was on hand to inform the public about this unique program that is offered to the elderly and chronically ill. Our Military Services program staff talked about the assistance offered to military personnel and their families.
